School of the Italian Society of Statistical Physics - SIFS

III School SIFS 2024


The third edition of the International School of the Italian Society of Statistical Physics - SIFS will be held at the Scuola Superiore of the University of Catania in Italy from the 26th of August to the 5th of September 2024.

 

The school will offer intensive two weeks of lectures, with follow up meetings. It will be structured into seven courses and tutoring activities. The courses will be held by Ginestra Bianconi (Higher-order networks), Irene Giardina (Interacting biological systems), István Kiss (Models of epidemic spreading), Giacomo Livan (Random Matrix Theory and Application), Mario Nicodemi (Phase transitions in the nucleus of cells), Stefano Ruffo (Systems with long-range interactions) and Samir Suweis (Ecological models).

 

The school represents a great opportunity for Phd students and young postdocs from any country to deepen topics in statistical physics in a friendly and international environment, offering moments of intense study and socialization.

II School SIFS 2023


The second edition of the School of the Italian Society of Statistical Physics - SIFS will be held at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca in Italy from the 28th of August to the 7th of September 2023.


The school will offer intensive two-weeks courses with follow up meetings. It will be structured into two long courses, four short courses and tutoring activities. The two main courses will be held by Diego Garlaschelli (Networks) and Francesco Ginelli (Active Matter). The four seminar courses will be held by Andrea Gambassi (Quantum Statistical Systems out of Equilibrium), Enrico Maria Malatesta (Statistical Mechanics of Artificial Neural Networks), Rosario Nunzio Mantegna (Econophysics) and Paolo Politi (Non Equilibrium Phase Transitions). The school represents a great opportunity for students from any country to deepen Statistical Physics topics in a friendly and international environement, offering moments of intense study and socialization.

The two main courses will be held by Roberto Benzi (Hydrodynamics and Turbulence) and Alessandro Sarracino (Stochastic Thermodynamics).  The four seminar courses will be held by Franco Bagnoli (Computational Lab), Diego Garlaschelli (Statistical Physics of Networks), Andrea Puglisi (Granular materials) and Luca Salasnich (Quantum Statistical Physics with cold atoms).The school represents a great opportunity for students from any country to deepen Statistical Physics topics in a friendly and international environement offering moments of intense study and socialization.
